Getting to know Carly Kramer of PPB Capital Partners

The next member of the PPB Capital Partners’ staff to profile is Carly Kramer, Vice President, Fund Operations. Carly celebrated her second anniversary at PPB earlier this year and was promoted to vice president in the fall of 2022.

Her profile reveals a unique choice for PPB’s mascot. And the reason for her pick hits the bullseye. Like other PPB staffers, she dislikes washing dishes. Thankfully, she played by the rules when selecting her dessert preference and didn’t use a loophole like others have.

Carly is yet another rising star in our fund operations department. And we hope she is around to celebrate many more work anniversaries.

1. What is the best piece of advice you have ever received?
   “Actions speak louder than words” or “Watch what people do, rather than listen to what they say”. It’s easy to say you’ll do something – it’s another thing entirely to follow through on it.
2. In your opinion, what is a fundamental characteristic of a good person?
   Being considerate. You never know what struggles someone is going through, and how your words and actions, whether good or bad, might affect them.
3. What was the last book you read?
   I’m going to cheat a bit here – I’m currently reading The Lost Apothecary, by Sarah Penner.
4. What is the one book you would recommend to anyone (and why)?
   The Four Agreements: A Practical Guide to Personal Freedom, by Don Miguel Ruiz. I read it in high school, and it really helped to change my perspective for the better.
5. Which is more useful and why … intelligence or wisdom?
   Intelligence is knowing a tomato is a fruit, and wisdom is knowing not to put tomatoes in a fruit salad. I’d rather not have tomatoes in my fruit salad.
6. What is something you’ve recently learned about yourself?
   I recently rediscovered my love for reading! My wallet is less than thrilled about how many books I buy.
7. What is a non-work-related goal you are working toward right now?
   My Fiancé and I are working towards planning our wedding and buying our first house.
8. If PPB Capital Partners had a mascot, what would it be?
   Prairie Dogs! They are pack animals and look out for each other – just like our team always looks out for each other.
9. You’re out on the town with your friends and it’s karaoke night. What song are you choosing?
   Listen Close by Maylene And The Sons Of Disaster.
10. Which household chore do you hate the most?
    I’ve never liked washing the dishes – and I probably never will.
11. If you could have one superpower, what would it be, and why?
    Teleporting – I’d never have to deal with traffic or travel delays ever again.
12. You can only choose one dessert. Are you taking ice cream or cake?
    Ice cream, of course!
13. What TV show is next on your list to binge watch?
    I’m probably going to rewatch Futurama for the 10^th time. It never gets old!
14. What is the most irrational fear you have?
    Centipedes. Yes, I know they’re harmless – I still hate them.
15. What is your favorite family tradition?
    Sunset Cruises! My dad always takes us out into the bay on the boat in the evening, and we’ll have a few drinks and watch the sun set. It’ll always be my favorite part of Summer.
16. If you’re making the perfect pizza, what toppings are you adding?
    I’d go for the classic … Margherita pizza – Fresh basil, tomatoes, and mozzarella.
