Get to Know Vikki McLaughlin of PPB Capital Partners

Senior Associate, Fund Operations, Vikki McLaughlin has been at PPB Capital Partners for three years and she’s a rising star on our fund operations team. As you read through her “Getting to Know” responses, you’ll see why she is such a great fit on our team.

She enjoys most cleaning chores (seriously), she’s always up for a good concert and planned on being a veterinarian when she was growing up.

Her love of animals shines through in her choice for what PPB’s mascot would be. Enjoy getting to know Vikki.

1. What is the best piece of advice you have ever received?
   “If you never ask, the answer is always no’ and ‘everything in life is negotiable’
2. What was the biggest influence on you working in the alternative investments industry?
   Destiny? The opportunity to work at PPB landed in my lap unexpectedly and I am so thankful it did.
3. In your opinion, what is a fundamental characteristic of a good person?
   Empathy. If you can’t empathize, you’re missing out on opportunities to see the world from another point of view, and that to me is unfortunate.
4. What was the last book you read?
   Sapiens – A Brief History of Humankind by Yuval Noah Harari
5. If you could invite 3 famous people (living or dead) to your house for a dinner party, who is on the guest list, and what would you serve?
   Kurt Cobain, Marilyn Monroe and Alan Watts
   I would serve brunch… French toast, waffles, pancake and of course mimosas!
6. Which is more useful and why … intelligence or wisdom?
   Wisdom. There are many intelligent people in this world—some are naturally born that way. But it takes experience to build wisdom and with wisdom comes intelligence.
7. What is something you’ve recently learned about yourself?
   I’m great at playing pool for no good reason.
8. Describe an experience that took your breath away or left you speechless.
   Seeing my favorite musical group (Odesza) in concert. Absolute magic.
9. If PPB Capital Partners had a mascot, what would it be?
   It would be a mixed-breed dog of mini poodle/Irish wolfhound and Labrador retriever … just like my sweet girl Olive!
10. You’re out on the town with your friends and it’s karaoke night. What song are you choosing?
    ‘Magic man’- Heart
11. When in elementary school, what did you what to be when you grew up?
    Veterinarian, I love animals!
12. Which household chore do you hate the most?
    Cleaning the stovetop. Believe it or not, I enjoy most cleaning chores.
13. If Hollywood were to make a movie about your life, which genre would it be, and who would play you?
    It would be a romantic comedy and I’d be played by Zendaya.
14. If you could only have 3 apps on your phone for the rest of your life, which ones are you keeping?
    Spotify, Kindle and Reddit
15. If you’re making the perfect pizza, what toppings are you adding?
    Pesto for sauce, light mozzarella & ricotta cheese, mushrooms, kalamata olives, onions, jalapenos and maybe some chorizo!
